Cusco head teachers to Torbay

Date: 10 Sep 2009

Cusco head teachers in TorbayFinally at the end of September our three Cusco head teachers arrived in Torbay. The exchange visit that saw the Torbay team visit Cusco in May this year completes the first round on visits between some of the link schools. Time spent in the respective countries allowed opportunities for being involved in lessons, planning activities, cultural visits and presentations with every minute of each day spent doing something.

Unfortunately the visits have been with limited time in each country so as much has to be packed in as possible. The Cusco heads visiting Churston Grammar, White Rock and Collaton St Mary Primaries coincided with the launch of the 4th Life in the Andes calendar which has been so fundamental in the success of the whole linking programme. It was an added bonus this year that we were able to launch the calendars with representatives from the Cusco schools present.

The exchange visits have been partly funded by DfID through their ‘Teacher Exchange Programme’ and part by the participating schools. With the success of this set of exchanges we are able to now introduce some of the other schools in Torbay to the programme.
